I love love this collection! Everything about it look polished and superb. This collection is definetely for everyone. I am just drooling over these dresses like a kid in a candy store! I love the flowing pretty chiffons gowns, colorful African prints and the fact that he used umbrellas to accessorize some of his looks. I could see Hollywood ladies rocking this collection on the red capert (fingers crossed!). This is one of his strongest-looking collection so far. What's your thought??

Arise Africa fashion Week June 12th-20th

Hey Guys!

In case you didn't know, Arise Africa Fashion Week will be kicking off this month starting Friday the12th through the following week on Sunday the 20th at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. The show will go on for eight days, and so far 51 different designers from 21 different African countries are excepecting to show case their lines. On the last day of the show there will be Arise Africa Fashion Awards. I know for sure Tanzania will be presented by designer Mustafa Hassanali (Loves his work). Gosh how I wish I could be there! But dont worry ,I will keep you posted with pictures straight from runways!

Kirette Couture Fashion Show

Hey Fashionjunkiis!
So last Wednesday I made my way out to Kirette Couture Fashion show for their Summer 2009 collection. The show took place in the city at The Boucarou. Kirette couture is the brainchild of two young Cameroonian ladies Anrette Ngafor who is based in the UK and Kibonen Nfi based in US. Before the show started I was able to go back stage for a quick sneak peek of the whole collection. I must admit everything was off the hook. Love the whole collection.

These three fabulous fashionistas were sitting right next to me. I loved the way they were dressed, everyone had her own individual style!

I also met up with these ladies and I was pleased to learn they are all working in the fashion industry. Love the blue Elizabeth and James dress and love their beautiful smiles I just couldn't stop droolling over their heels. Love them!!
The audience were also entertained by South African musician Wax right before the show started. I was not familiar with his music but I did enjoy the music.

Ida — (32-21-35) — is being sued by a soon-to-be divorced woman named Katrina Kantner, who claims the centerfold and Mr. Kanter schemed to funnel thousands of dollars in child support money meant for Katrina and her children.

Kantner claims her husband has given Ida over $90,000 in cash and gifts — while during the same period, he’s been stiffing Katrina out of the $10,000 a month he owes her child and spousal support.

In the suit, filed last week in L.A. County Superior Court, Kantner says Ida knew exactly what she was doing — and wants all the money back, plus interest.

If you’re judging Ida from the accusations in this case — be careful, one of her turn-off’s is “close-mindedness.”

Wow where do I start guys!!

Gosh how I missed you !!! Many thanks to you guys for all the lovely notes you left for me. I must say these past two weeks have been crazy in a fabulous way, but things are back to normal now. I am glad I had a chance to visit a few friends and family during my time off, and last Friday I made my last visit to Houston for a friend's event. I am still working on the pictures so stay tuned.

On Saturday, My brother Muzo hosted a party for me and my kid sisters. I was happy to see old friends from High School all grown up with families! Nyama choma kwa wingi, too bad it wasn't hunting season coz he had promised deer meat but he ended up grilling goat and beef instead. Many thanks to my sister in-law Evamaria, You rock!!

Do you love colored jeans as much as I do?? What is your favorite color?? I own two pairs, Mustard yellow and red colored jeans and now I am working on getting purple colored jeans (always wanted purple). Good thing is bright colored jeans never goes out style.
But the reason I am posting this tody is because while I was surfing online for a new pair of colored jeans I found a great discount on colored jeans on Delia. I always love their jeans beacues they stretch (I know some of us can't wear a pair of jeans that doesn't stretch), they are affordable and they carry up to 37" inseam perfect for tall girls.

By the way cornrows remind me of my early school years when I was a student back inTanzania. Last night I was going through my photos and came across this picture that I took a few weeks ago and felt like something was wrong with the whole ensemble! I love colors and not afraid of clashing different colors but I am not sure if I pulled this look off. You be the Judge! Here is what I think I should have done;

1. A waist cinched belt for a more defined silhoutte, top (from Topshop) looks a little big on me.

2. Because I was wearing high waisted disco pants (American Apparel), I should have tucked the top into the pants.

3. Or may be a neutral colored top was what I needed.

What's your thought??

FJ Man- Guys what should you wear on your first date???

Got a date?? I mean First date? what should you wear? Well deciding what to wear on your first date sometimes can be a little difficult. We suggest you go for a simple clean look yet appropriate for the occassion? Also comfort is the key, try wear clothes that suits you and your personal style. But its nice to try different style sometimes or new looks. Remember it doesn't matter whether its first date or not one thing about us women is that we are fashion consciuos, it would be nice if you try to impress your date.

1. If you are planning having a dinner date try tailored slim fitting suit or if you don't want to look like you are trying too hard go for a nice dress pants and shirt with elegant shoes (only you are planning on having your date at a fancy/upscale restaurant)2. Picnics are suppose to be more laid -back so wear something comfortable. Khaki pants or Linen pants paired up with a white shirt( try linen) and brown sandals will give you a more relaxed look.

3. If you are going to take her to the movies for a first date try a pair of jeans with a nice top and throw on a jacket then complete your look with nice pair of sneakers or loafers

4. For night spots you can try a pair of dark rinse jeans or straight dark pants, nice collared shirt and a blazer. Dont be afraid of new trends and remember to minimize your accessories.( don't wear 4,5 rings or layers and layers of chains at the same time)

So did you watch last night America's Next Top Model finale? Or better yet, does anyone still watch this show? In case you missed it , New Jersey 20 -year- old Teyona was crowned ANTM winner for cycle 12. I actually watched the show and was hoping the third runner- up Aminat was going to win. I think she has a banging body, but judges decided tolet her go because she couldn't work the muscles on her face.

After a great success of Matthew Williamson's first launch, tomorrow May 14th marks the second launch of his H&M Summer 2009 collection. This time the designer will include his first ever menswear collection inspired by his own wardrobe (guys are you ready?). So its looks like Black ripped jeans are somehow a trend for Spring/Summer 2009 after a variety of Hollywood babes were seen sporting these jeans. This trend was introduced on the catwalk by Belgian-born, designer Martin Margiela last Spring and didn't take that long for Hollywood starlets like Fergie and Hillary Duff to start wearing them. Style icon Rihanna already a big fan of this trend has been seen wearing these jeans several times.

So if you are looking for the right black ripped jeans for your self check out the following options (below)

Thigh-high boots- huge trend for the upcoming Fall season. Ciara is a big fan of this trend, sometimes I feel like she wears these boots with every outfit. We have seen her rocking these boots in different colors. I love her, love her banging body and I think she looks good in everything she puts on but I think she is taking the thigh-high boots look to the extreme. what do you guys think??So are you feeling the thigh-high boots trend?
Also what do you think of this look?? Never liked the genie pants that much. I have a pair never been worn before but after seeing this photo, I think I am going to get mine out of the closet very soon ( still not sure how I am going to look). I'm super excited Fashionjunkii is one year old today! . I can’t believe it’s already been a year Gosh it feels like only a few months since this blog first started! Fashionjunkii has grown so much in the past year. I started this blog because of my obsession with fashion. I wanted to share my world of fashion with others and also learn new things from other fashionistas. I remember when I started blogging I knew nothing about blogging but have learned so much. For me keeping a blog is not easy especially when you have other things going on in your. But I managed and this past year has been fun. I want to thank everybody, to the people who contributed ideas and supported me in keeping this blog going! You know who you are! What do you think are the most versatile pieces you as a man should own in your wardrobe??According to Askmen, whether you love to shop, dont have the patience to shop, have no time to shop because you are busy working or don't have the money to shop there are certain pieces you as a man should own no matter what.
1. White dress shirt- Its classic and goes with anything2. Navy suit- More easier to pair up with bright colored clothing or ties. Suggestion; British Paul Smith's suits for a contemporary suit for all occasions (meetings, job interviews, or dates e.t.c). Blazer can be paired up with jeans or other items in your closet and still gives you a classic look. Remember to go for quality there fore be ready to splurge! 3. Polo shirts- Great for casual looks for work,weekends and summer time.4. Jeans -A perfect fitting jeans is all you need. Dark-rinse jeans are morre versatile and will flatter your body than light wash denim. 5. Jacket - Go for two button gray wool blazer. Gray is a strong, masculine color that can be paired up with other neutrals colors as well as bright and pastel hues.
6.Cashmere sweater - This should be a staple in every man's closet. 100% cashemeres might cost a few hundreds but are good investment. Go for V-neck colored cashmere sweater such as orange, green, red or purple like Jamie Fox. 7.Classic coat- You definetly need to invest on a great coat in order to warm and stylish during the cold weather. Skinny jeans is a very touchy subject amongst men. Some would rock skinny jeans and some would never. Many oppose skinny jeans because physically they bring about some complications. Remember that verse from Jay-z "I dont wear skinny jeans cause my nuts dont fit" (hahaha), well true enough skinny jeans tend to be a little bit tight on that particular area of a man's body. Personally I think rocking skinny jeans is a brave move for men, however the direction in which the fashion trend for men is heading skinny jeans will someday be the isshh. Swagger comes in very weird forms. If done right skinny jeans can be the ultimate swagger for men. And by right I mean a good mix of skinny jeans and shoes. The good thing about skinny jeans, they can be rocked nicely with both high tops and low tops, including formal shoes. Since skinny jeans are more punk-rock based, shoes like: Vans, Converse (Chuck Taylors), and Boots are more appropriate for a spot-on swagger. Here are some suggestions to learn from:

I love this photo of Miley in Herve Leger sequined dress with padded shoulders from Herve Leger Fall 2009 collection. She wore this dress to the premiere of her movie, Hannah Montana Yesterday (April 23) in London, England. I actually missed out the runway show back in February for this collection but when I saw the photos I was wowed by every piece on the collection. Just can't get enough of the signature bandage dresses.
The collection featured padded shoulders, exotic prints, metallic beading and woven techniques.

My favorite are the two black and brown metallic dresses with basket weave beadwork on the bodice.

So the debut of Matthew Williamson’s collection for H & M kicked off Yesterday. I made my way out around noon to H&M store on 34th street which was kinda late compare to people who were waiting outside H&M from 8am (what was I thinking...grrrrr!) By the time I got there everything was gone leaving only a few cardigans on the racks.

I had planned to get the multi-coloured sequined dress and the big studded belt (as seen on the Mannequin above ). Next time I will try to get there a little early. Here are a few photos of celebs rocking collection! Ginnifer Goodwine in a sequined dress

So yesterday morning one of our fabulous readers from London sent me a link to Too Many Tights blog which is a blog for those for whom too many tights is not enough tights! The man behind this fabulous blog is designer James Lillis from Australia and has his own tights line. So if you are tights lover then I think you should check this site out!
I actually find these tights quite unique. These are the kind of tights Lindsay Lohan or Rihanna would wear.

But my favorite ones are these babes, the Nairobi legging which really caught my eye. These fabulous leggings with a unique African touch are retail for $49. They actually look like one of those African fabrics if you know what I mean. Jamani hiki kama kitenge vile, sema mmeremeto tu!!Also while surffing through JL site I came across these amazingly fierce tights by designer LaQuan Smith!! I could see Rihanna rocking these tights on stage....By the way the shoes are not part of the tights. But they do match perfectly!

Oh how I love my plain white T-shirts. Whenever I can't find anything I will throw on a simple white fitted t-shirt with jeans . White t-shirts are very comfortable and give a classic look when worn with jeans. I think they should be everyones wardrobe staple, I have many of them.
And did you know you can wear a simple white Tshirt for a night out with your girls and still manage to look chic?? Whether you are pairing it with a black mini skirt or blue jeans always remember to accessorise. Accessories can make the most boring outfit look fresh. How about killer heels (try bright colors), carry a fly bag or add up a necklace or belt. Check out Beyonce's different looks in white tees , jeans and her killer heels! Loves it!

I also try to avoid spending a lot on Tees so I always go for Americal Apparel, Urban Outfitters, Hanes,Gap or Old Navy. As long as they 100% cotton I am happy. Short sleeves white t-shirts work for me(love showing off my arms).

If you have been to previous Touch Foundation events then you know what to expect. You will also get an opportunity to party, mix and mingle with other young professionals in NYC at one of NY’s trendiest nightclubs 1 OAK. All proceeds will benefit our work improving health care in Tanzania For the price of one fun night, you can help save thousands of lives.

There are 17-20 million cases of Malaria in Tanzania each year - we need your help to end the suffering from this preventable and treatable disease. Support the training of doctors, nurses and other health workers at a university in Mwanza, Tanzania. At the Touch Foundation, we realize that eradicating malaria goes beyond just ensuring that there are drugs on the shelf. Health workers need to actively support the prevention and treatment of the disease so that it can be eradicated from Tanzania as it was in the United States. Therefore, our work funding a medical school for doctors, nurses and other health workers in Mwanza, Tanzania is absolutely vital to controlling malaria and numerous other infectious diseases that take too many lives everyday. How much would you spend on an umbrella?? Do you just go to the store and grab one or do you purchase one that fits your personality / style.
Trust me holding a cute umbrella says alot about you but would you pay over $ 100 for it?? Some might argue cheap umbrellas break so easly, or they get lost constantly so why spend a fortune if you can't keep it.I say If you can afford it go for it, after all you are going to need and use it whenever it rains as long as you dont loose it to your co-worker or leave it on the subway seats.

So a couple of days ago CIAAFRIQUE blog, my fave blog featured a Tanzanian designer CHICHIA LONDON by Christine Mhando . Christine Mhando who is based in London launched Chichia London in 2007. Chichia's signature is the "KHANGA" which is a traditional east African cotton printed fabric, and this usually appears in every collection in the form of tops, tunics, dresses or skirts mixed with various different types of fabrics and prints. Designer to know: Silvia Owori

I always get excited when I read about designers from the mother land. Silvia Owori is a young hot designer from Uganda who is determined to conquer the fashion world by storm.
She is well known for her beautiful designs primarily in her native country Uganda, East Africa and all over Africa. A few months ago she was invited to Rome to showcase her designs during Rome fashion week

Her label "Silvia Owori" was launched in 2004 and has been sold in Kampala and other parts of Africa. Apart from being invited to Rome Fashion week she has also showcased her designs in South Africa during Joburg Fashion Week .
Silvia also designed for M-Net Face of Africa in Dar-es-Salaam (2000) and Cape Town, also Nokia Face of Africa’s Ugandan finalist’s outfit in 2001. And did you know she designed for the main characters in the Hollywood movie, “The Last King of Scotland” ,which was filmed in Uganda in 2005??

So I was surfing online and came across Lalesso creation! I must admit, I absolutely love their Spring/Summer 2009 Khanga collection and I know you fashionistas are going to love it too. One of the most popular jean trends for spring/summer 2009 is the Acid washed jeans trend.

These 80's inspired jeans are back! We have seen them gracing the runways of different designers during Spring/Summer 2009 shows such as Balmain which was my favorite by far. To be honest after seeing Balmain acid washed jeans on the runway I purchased my pair just to see how they will look on me!!!

So I finally wore my acid washed jeans last night with a simple urban outfitters white T-shirt, a Balmain inspired navy blue jacket ( without the shoulder pads) and cut-out open toed ankle boots ! Would you consider trying this trend or it's a pass???
